Student Health and Counseling Center
The Student Health and Counseling Center (SHCC) promotes optimal health for the University community through access to high quality and affordable health care, preventative health care, individual counseling, consulting, outreach and health education.
The Student Health and Counseling Center is committed to fostering a welcoming, supportive environment where ALL students are valued. The team works together to provide evidence-based, comprehensive, and compassionate healthcare and education to UAA students seeking services regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity, religion, or other experiences or identities that contribute to an individual.

Mental Health Support:
Starting fall of 2025 the UAA Student Health and Counseling Center has partnered with TalkSpace for additional mental health services. There are no additional fees or charges for this support.
UAA students, enrolled in UAA courses, seeking to engage in mental health care would first call the UAA Student Health and Counseling Center at 907-786-4050 to make a screening appointment with our counselor to review options and resources.
Current UAA students seeking immediate mental health support have following options available:
- 24/7 TalkSpace crisis line, Dial 1-833-929-1721 (follow the prompts to be connected with crisis triage).
- Dial 988: A nationwide crisis hotline, routed to Alaskan crisis support by location of caller.
- Dial 911: Immediate local Emergency Services or a life threatening emergency.
Insurance Billing: Courtesy billing will continue for LewerMark, United Healthcare Student Resources and Premera Blue Cross Blue Shield policies. We will provide others with a detailed statement for insurance reimbursement.
Value Feedback: Please take a short Qualtrics survey. Your feedback helps us improve. Thank you
