Fleet Maintenance – UAA/FM&O

UAA Fleet Services strives to communicate and coordinate with our campus customers to ensure timely, cost-effective fleet services.  A variety of billable services are offered by the UAA Fleet Maintenance Service department.  Fleet Services has 3 working bays located in the Gordon Hartlieb Hall, Room 125. Our dedicated team of four service professionals can provide the following services. 

General Preventative and Routine Maintenance   

  • Oil change service  
  • Filter replacements (air, cabin air, fuel) 
  • Wiper blade replacement 
  • Checking fluid levels (coolant, brake fluid, power steering, window washer) 
  • General engine and under vehicle inspections (leaks, cracks, or any other issues) 
  • Annual mileage verifications 

Major Automotive and Equipment Repairs 

  • Inspect, diagnosis, repair or replace based on manufacture/OEM specifications for all systems. 
  • Minor body damage (accidents or vandalism) 
  • Installation of aftermarket electrical modifications (lights, sensors, components) 

Tire Services 

  • Winter/summer tire swaps (includes balancing, service check, brake check, and secure storage of off-season tires) 
  • Balancing services 
  • New tire ordering 

3rd Party Service Management 

  • Managing vehicle recalls 
  • Major body damage (accidents or vandalism) 
  • Inspect, diagnose, install or repairs of: 
  • vehicle computers  
  • engines  
  • transmissions  
  • glass  
  • transfer cases 
  • installation of auto starts 
  • air conditioning system 

Fuel Master and Fuel Island Management 

  • Complete Monthly and Annual SOA inspections to maintain operational fuel island 
  • Manage data system (add new equipment/employees, remove surplus equipment, remove unauthorized employees) 

New Vehicle / Equipment Mandatory Inspections 

In coordination with UA Procurement Services (ua-pcs-main@alaska.edu), Fleet Services provides the following services to ensure newly procured university vehicles/equipment meet specifications.  This mandatory inspection process also allows us to ensure operational continuity and safety. 

  • Installation of UAA decals (E-number) 
  • UA license plate 
  • UA sticker 
  • Fire Extinguisher 
  • 1st Aid Kit 
  • Insurance and registration envelope 
  • GPS installation 
  • Add asset to UA Work Order System and set up PM’s 
  • Create fuel fob for on-campus fuel island use 

Additional Services 

  • Decal installs 
  • Fork lift certifications 
  • Wielding and metal cutting to include some custom fabrication 
  • On campus fork lift and loader services 
  • Pre-trip inspections for UAA vehicles embarking on long trips.
